Dwarf Puppets
(Spring 2019)
Created for a children’s theater performance of Snow White.
Puppets were created out of foam, then covered with fabric and detailed with felt.
Puppets had moveable mouths and could “look” in different directions. The puppeteers were also playing their own characters, so these factors helped distinguish their two characters.
I was also the costume consultant for the show--we coordinated each dwarf’s personality with their vest color, but gave them all red hats to help unify the group look. The show involved characters frequently switching characters, so we started all actors in basic stage blacks and added only a few costume pieces to help establish character.
Here are all 7 dwarves: four actors, and three puppets!
