These pumpkins are from a 2-day glass blowing workshop at Snow Farm residential craft school.

I am by no means an accomplished glassblower (even the stems on these pumpkins were above the skill level of our class, and were completed by the instructors), but learning about other types of art and design is an essential part of my artistic inspiration. I'm always looking for new skills and opportunities, not only because it's fun to try new things, but because different disciplines introduce new methods of problem solving and ways of thinking about design that I try to bring with me into other mediums and contexts.

This was a great opportunity to try thinking about form and shape in new ways, to learn from some wonderful instructors, and to embrace a method of crafting that focuses on physicality (ie. thinking about stance and how to manipulate the tools to work with the molten glass).
