City in a Book (& city collages)

(Fall 2020)

I think one of the most important aspects of being an artist is exploring other forms of design and artistry. Recently, I've been taking several architecture courses, to explore different ways to think about the ways people use space (whether on stage or in the real world!).

I also love that the class gave me the opportunity to learn from other students outside of the theater, and the way they approached art and design challenges. 

Throughout the semester, we created collages based on passages from the book Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino (my work is of Despina, pg 17). The final project involved constructing a model of the city inside of (and made out of) a book! It's certainly not the most effective model-making technique, but it was a lot of fun to make!
